LONG-TERM CARE

A wide range of services are included in long-term care and are intended to address a person's health or personal care needs over a short or long period of time. When a person is unable to carry out daily tasks alone anymore, these services help them live as freely and safely as they can.

To assist people in remaining at home and maintaining as much independence as possible, homecare health agencies provide health, personal, and support services. The majority of long-term care is given either in the client's home or the home of a family member. In-home maintenance care can be provided for those who require constant assistance or acute care for those who need it temporarily, such as those recovering from surgery.

General Questions

We know the process of choosing a homecare health agency can be overwhelming. We're here to help!

  • How can a home health agency increase the quality of a client's life?

    Continued Care, Inc is a home health agency that offers care following illness or injury. As we age, we are often confronted with limitations on our activities. As these limitations become more pronounced, we require assistance beyond what families are able to provide. A home health agency allows a patient to remain in their home while getting the care they need to live life to their fullest potential.

    At Continued Care, Inc, we understand that patients recover more quickly from illness or injury while being served by a home health agency than those in an assisted living facility. Home health allows dementia patients to be in familiar surroundings often slowing mental decline. Patients who have an injury or a stroke often fare better in their own homes where it is easier to maintain a restful environment.

    If you are struggling with care decisions for your loved one, call Continued Care, Inc today. We are a home health agency that works with the family to ensure your loved one is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Call us at 419-222-2273.

  • My family member receives Medicare, what services are covered?

    The nine services, which apply to both skilled nursing facilities and to home health care, are:

    1. Intravenous or intramuscular injections and intravenous feeding;
    2. Enteral feeding (i.e., “tube feedings”) that comprises at least 26 per cent of daily calorie requirements and provides at least 501 milliliters of fluid per day;
    3. Nasopharyngeal and tracheostomy aspiration;
    4. Insertion and sterile irrigation and replacement of suprapubic catheters;
    5. Application of dressings involving prescription medications and aseptic techniques;
    6. Treatment of extensive decubitus ulcers or other widespread skin disorder;
    7. Heat treatments which have been specifically ordered by a physician as part of active treatment and which require observation by nurses to adequately evaluate the patient's progress;
    8. Initial phases of a regimen involving administration of medical gases; or
